DISCSS Mentorship Program
At HF United, mentorship is at the heart of everything we do. Our coaches model leadership, build trust, and guide athletes in developing social-emotional skills like accountability, teamwork, and resilience. Through our DISCCS framework, we prepare football and cheer athletes to excel not just in competition, but in life.
What We Mean by “Common Language”
At HF United, each pillar is paired with a short, memorable phrase that athletes, coaches, and parents can use year-round. This common language creates consistency across practices, games, and community events — ensuring that no matter who is speaking, the message stays the same. It gives coaches a quick way to reinforce values, athletes a reminder to carry into every situation, and parents a tool to support character growth at home.
DISCSS Framework
The DISCCS framework is at the core of everything we do, creating not just athletes — but leaders on the football field, cheer mats, and in everyday life. Whether competing, practicing, or performing, every athlete is empowered to lead with:
- Discipline – Stay focused. Stay ready. We reinforce routines, celebrate effort, and help athletes minimize distractions.
- Integrity – Do the right thing, even when no one is watching. Coaches highlight quiet leadership and turn challenges into teachable moments.
- Scholarship – Learning never stops — on or off the field. We promote curiosity and tie lessons from mistakes to growth.
- Community – Together, we build and grow. We encourage strong team bonds, ensure inclusion, and share leadership roles.
- Service – We rise by lifting others. Athletes take part in service projects and peer mentoring to give back.
- Sportsmanship – Respect the game. Respect each other. We celebrate fairness, self-control, and honoring opponents.

Service
Raising Champions of Character means serving our community together.
At HF United, the Service pillar of our DISCCS framework is about more than volunteering — it’s about teaching athletes that leadership means lifting others. Parents play a vital role in making these opportunities possible.
From team-led community clean-ups to food drives, youth mentorship events, and holiday giving projects, we create hands-on experiences that help athletes connect their sport to a greater purpose.
How Parents Can Get Involved:
- Join us for upcoming service learning projects alongside your athlete.
- Share local community service ideas or partner organizations.
- Celebrate and share your athlete’s service achievements with our team community.
Upcoming Service Learning Opportunities:
- Just Roots – September 13th (Steger, IL) Meet us there!
- Feeding My Starving Children – October 4th (Schamburg, IL) transportation will be provided
Why It Matters:
By participating in service learning, athletes gain real-world leadership experience, develop empathy, and learn the value of giving back — lessons that last far beyond the season.
